"Get over it"

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has 3 words for critics of the the decision that gave us George Bush instead of a real President in 2000. “Get over it.”
In an interview with CBS correspondent, Leslie Stahl, set to air on 60 Minutes on April 27, Scalia dismissed any suggestion that the ruling in Gore V. Bush was politically motivated.
Bedtime Story

The following tale is fiction…as far as I know.
It was a chilly December night and Frank wished he had worn his heavy jacket. Leaning against the wall, he drew deep on his cigarette. Exhaling twice as hard, he turned to the fellow smoker next to him. “Jeez, this sucks! It could only be worse if it was raining.”
The man next to him, somewhat older, puffed lightly on his own smoke and, in even tones that were a contrast to Frank’s more jagged delivery, “You could always quit.”
Stepping Back To See The Forest

We’ve all heard the expression “can’t see the forest for the trees.” The expression refers to focusing on details to the exclusion of the larger picture. In other words, as we strive to ascribe meaning to all manner of trivia in an effort to predict outcome, simply backing up to view the totality of a situation would reveal that the trivia has very little, if any, predictive value.
As I read diary after diary about the 2008 race for the White House, it sometimes seems to me we’ve gone far beyond examining the trees and, indeed, have been reduced to counting the veins in the leaves and commenting on the texture of the bark. It passes the time and, no doubt, gives Mark Penn some material for his next book. But, at the end of the day, the outcome of the 2008 presidential race has all but been determined. Rest easy; the Democrats win.
Caveats later. First, follow me below the fold for more.
